Moving Your Household Goods to Australia
When moving to Australia there some key pieces of information you need to know. In order to get your goods into Australia they must be cleared by both the Customs and Quarantine services. This is a benefit of a door-to-door move to Australia with Alliance Movers, with our experience we will guide you through the Customs and AQIS declaration forms, called an Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement, and we will need to obtain a copy of your passport details page.

Australian Customs Service*
The Australian Customs service wants to ensure you are not importing any prohibited/restricted items and collect any duty and tax which may be payable. To import your household goods into Australia free of duty and tax you must have owned and used them for 12 months or more. All alcoholic beverages and cigarettes are subject to duty and tax regardless of quantity.
Australian Quarantine Service*
Australia has a very strict Quarantine service and they are known as the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service or AQIS. Every single shipment entering Australia is subject to a physical inspection by AQIS to ensure your shipment does not contain any prohibited/restricted items or contaminated risk items. If your shipment has any contaminants or restricted items then the Quarantine service may order selected items to be treated by way of fumigation or steam cleaning, or if they’re prohibited then confiscated/destroyed. The charges can be very expensive, so to try and avoid them we recommend that you thoroughly clean all of your outdoor furniture, gardening tools, lawn mowers, sports equipment, bikes, camping equipment and vacuum cleaners and the like before they are packed by Alliance Movers for shipping.

Packing your Belongings
It is our recommendation that we professionally pack your goods. We use the best materials available and employ the best techniques to ensure your goods arrive safely. We also have a variety of speciality cartons, purpose-designed for household good items. We also custom-build wooden crates for fragile and precious items. Every single item moving will be packaged in some form, thus if it is not packed in a removal carton it will be export wrapped. Once packed all goods will be numbered with a label sticker and recorded on a removal inventory.
Whilst it is our recommendation that we pack your goods it is not mandatory, you are welcome to pack some or all of your goods yourself. We can assist you in this process by providing you with our packing materials and a handy packing guide.
Storing Your Belongings in Singapore or Australia
We have storage services available in Singapore and in all Asian destinations. The advantage of storing at destination is that when you are ready to receive your goods they can be delivered quite quickly. Whereas if you store them in Singapore, you will have to plan around shipping transit and wait for their arrival. On the other hand, if you are not sure what your final destination will be we can store your goods here in Singapore until you know what it is. This can reduce unnecessary shipping costs if you change your mind.

It is very important to consider the protection of your goods during relocation as there is always an element of risk. Peace of mind is paramount, thankfully, we are able to offer a range of insurance options to ensure your personal possessions are well covered should the unlikely happen.
